Public Appointments
Throughout Wales, at local and national level, committees are set up to offer independent advice and provide services in all areas of everyday life, from sports and art, schools and hospitals, to environment and tourism.
Public appointees are volunteers who sit on these committees and share their experiences and knowledge to shape such areas for their local community or even the country as a whole.
Everyone can get involved and make a difference. Whether you have an interest in local issues, such as your local school, or a national interest, such as the future of the arts in Wales, there are ways you can get involved.
We want people from all walks of life to provide ideas and advice from different perspectives. Your common sense, experience and dedication will be valued.
Personal gain, community gain
Although some require specialist knowledge, most appointments only demand your commitment, time and passion for the subject. Experience of participating in meetings and a keen community spirit is useful.
In return for spending 3/4 days per month attending meetings and reading papers, you will gain invaluable professional experience and will have an influence on what goes on in your community and even all over Wales.
Other personal benefits include:
- opportunities to develop a wider knowledge base
- networking
- enjoyment
- personal development
- hands on experience of public sector working
While many appointments are paid, some are not, but all appointees are reimbursed their travel and other reasonable expenses.
Become one of the 1,000 or so appointees in Wales volunteering their time to provide the services that make a difference to our everyday life.
